Surfside Blogging – Live At The Beach!

Surfside Blogging - Live At The BeachBecause of technology, we’re more connected than ever before.

However, in spite of all of our technical advances, we’re also more lonely than ever before.

In this post, I’m going to share my thoughts on relationship building and taking the time to disconnect from ‘virtual reality‘. If you’ll take the time to read this post and watch the video below –  LIVE AT THE BEACH! – then you’ll discover some practical ways to avoid information overload, build more relationships…

…and get back to the root of why you’re building your business in the first place!

3 Things We May Miss Out On If We’re Not Careful

Many times when we’re trying to build a business online, we get so carried away an focused on the internet and “building relationships” that we completely miss out on so many FUN and GREAT aspects of our industry!

And on top of that…

We also miss some great opportunities.

Below are 3 things we may miss out on if we don’t make time for what’s really important:

1. Building tangible relationships – Having an online ‘relationship’ is one thing; meeting someone, shaking their hand, and being in their presence is a completely different story.

2. Meeting new people – Befriending someone on Facebook or following someone on Twitter isn’t quite like the great feeling you get when you get to physically meet someone and get to know them on a more intimate level.

3. Life – If you’re not careful, you’ll completely ignore everything going on around you all in the name of ‘business’…including but no limited to relationships, opportunities, and your own health and well-being.

Connected To Disconnection

I remember Art Jonak telling a story about a father and son that walked into Jack in the Box. The father was on the phone and the son was listening to music on his iPod.

They ordered their food…

Sat down…

And left.

So what’s the problem?

They NEVER once got off the phone or unplugged their earphones; in other words, they sat down and ate without EVER saying a word to each other.

Let that sink in.

Yes, we’re connected more than ever before thanks to technology – but we’re also more disconnected relationally and more lonely then any other time in history.
